Many of us buy a lot of electronics every year. But what do we do once we’ve replaced them? Usually sell them on eBay, Craigslist, Swappa, Amazon, etc., I know, I can be a bit lazy at selling these old devices. In fact, I have a drawer full of old phones and tablets that never got sold along with a ton of cases and other accessories, because I was simply to busy and lazy to do so. That’s where this new startup comes in. It’s called Sold. Which launched earlier this year, and it’s quite intriguing.
Back in April, Sold launched on iOS, but today they are launching on Android. I know, I know, yet another company that launches their app on iOS before Android despite the huge market share that Android has and the over a million Android devices activated daily. Sold has already seen funding from a variety of investors like Google Ventures, Greylock Partners, Matrix Partners and the team at Boston Seed. Sold says they’ve sold more than 2,000 unique products in it’s marketplace, and saw a 50% growth in items posted last month. Additionally, their prices are about 43% higher than Gazelle’s, which is great for sellers.
The Co-Founder of Sold, Devincenzi tells us that Sold is now projecting $1 million in annual revenue as of it’s first 90 days and it’s still growing fast and furious. Which is great to see for a new startup. With the app debuting on Android today, I expect that revenue to double in the next few months. The launch on Android has also sped up the process to going from post to payment in just 4 days, and even sees popular items sold within an hour. Sold is also now accepting items with a market value of $50 and up.
