Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 Launches in China; All Variants Powered by Snapdragon 800
The Galaxy Note 3 is a popular device and it’s just gone up for sale across China. However, those looking forward to getting some Exynos Octa action will be disappointed. In China, all the variants ship with a Snapdragon 800 CPU. That includes the unlocked SM-N9006, the SM-N9002 for China Unicom, the SM-N9009 for China Telecom and the SM-N9008 for China Mobile. Interestingly, the SM-N9002 is the only dual-SIM version of the phone, with the others being SIM-only variants. Which version did you buy?

Philips W8568 Gets Certified in China; One More Flip Phone Coming to Asia
It would seem that flip phones are back “in”. Especially in China and Asia as a whole. With Samsung’s new flip phone, the Golden and now this upcoming Philips device, are they making a comeback? As for the Philips W8568, we’ve got a 4-inch 960 x 540 display, a MT6589 quad-core CPU from MediaTek and just 512MB of RAM. To us, this looks very much like a budget-minded device, as oppose to the slightly better Galaxy Golden. With only one display, this device looks pretty mundane from Philips. However, for a good price, this could be a big seller. Only time will tell.

Alibaba to Partner with China Telecom to Ship Apps with Devices
Chinese giant Alibaba is struggling to get its services out there. At least in the same way that rivals Tencent and Baidu are anyway. There’s word that the e-commerce giant is to partner with China Telecom to have apps and services like its Laiwang social media network installed on devices on the network. For Alibaba, this could be a very good way of getting their name out there a little better. Of course with Baidu and Tencent so strong in markets Alibaba is competing in, it might not be enough for them.
HTC’s Butterfly S Launches in China
The Butterfly S has now gone on sale in China. The device that’s more like a One-themed update to the Buttefly is available in a handful of colors, and comes with some great new features. It’s got the same Snapdragon 600 as the One, the same UltraPixel camera, BoomSound and of course, Sense 5. Overall, this is a decent device and it’ll be on sale in two version, a single-SIM and a dual-SIM model. However, the single-SIM has a 3,200 mAh battery while the dual-SIM only has 2,300 mAh, which is very strange indeed.
Russia’s Yotaphone to Launch in November
There’s something to be said of Russia’s Yotaphone, the device that has two displays – one 4.3-inch e-ink display round back and a normal display round the front. It’s a great concept and while specs are still to be ironed out before launch, we’re looking a 4.7-inch Android device with glanceable information and true e-reading on the e-ink display around back. It’s a great way to get quick updates without ruining your battery life. The company is finally going to be ready to launch this unique smartphone sometime in November of this year, retailing for somewhere between 22,000 to 25,000 rubles ($670 to $760) it’s not going to be cheap but, it might be just what you’ve been waiting for.
