Just a little while ago, Google+ held their event which was announced yesterday where they actually showed off quite a few new features. Not to mention they now have 540 million active users per month along with over 1.5 billion pictures uploaded to the site per week. Google added all kinds of goodies to the social network, both in the mobile apps and on the web. This includes Auto Awesome for Video and even better auto backup, along with a few other features. Of course there’s also a somewhat big update for Hangouts as well. Hangouts is getting SMS support, but so far it doesn’t look like we’ve got the Google Voice/VoIP support that the iOS app got a few weeks ago. Which saddens me.
In this update we’ve got some better auto upload options as well as Auto Awesome for Video. Which is going to be pretty awesome, no pun intended. We’ve already gone over all the updates for Google+ earlier today which you can check out if you want more information. However we now have the APK, thanks to +Keyan X, one of my good friends over on Google+. To install the apk, you need to be sure you’ve got “Unkown Sources” checked in the Security or App section of the settings (depending on your phone) then tap on the APK and follow the instructions to install it. It will upgrade your existing Google+ app, so you won’t have two Google+ apps on your phone. You’ll also still be able to get updates for Google+ from the Play Store, which is always a good thing.
