The Galaxy Gear has been interesting device for Samsung, it’s their first smartwatch and it’s also another addition into the Galaxy family. However, it’s not been received all that well in the press and there are only a small amount of users that can actually use the device on account of it being locked to the Galaxy Note 3 and the Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Nevertheless, we reviewed the device and we didn’t think it was up to all that much, either. One of the major problems however, still remains that not everyone can even use the device. Android 4.3 seems to be a pretty big requirement as Bluetooth Low Energy seems to be a key in so many of these new smartwatches.
We know that the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note II is getting compatibility with the Galaxy Gear but, what about other Galaxy devices? Well, the list of these devices has just grown a little and more of the Galaxy family is about to enter the wearable revolution. Take a look at the list below to see the Galaxy devices that are getting compatibility:
- Galaxy S4
- Galaxy Note II
- Galaxy S3
- Galaxy S4 Mini
- S4 Active
- Mega 5.8
- Mega 6.3
- Galaxy S4 Zoom
These devices might not be getting the Android 4.3 Update, or at least Samsung haven’t said as much. The Android 4.3 update will make it easier to add text and should improve a lot of things as well as bring with it support for Samsung’s KNOX, their security suite for their Android devices.
While the Galaxy Gear might not be the smartwatch many were hoping for from Samsung, it’s just the first of many products and we’re sure that they’ll be improving it in the future. A price drop would help the device as well, at $299, it’s nowhere near as affordable as the Pebble or the Sony Smartwatch 2. How many of you guys have a Galaxy Gear?
