Google Play Books v3 Rolling Out Now, and We Have the APK for Download!

It’s Tuesday night, and it looks like the Google Play Books team wanted to beat out all the other Google app updates that are usually out on Wednesdays, as they are pushing out version 3 of the Play Books app tonight. Of course it’s a staged update like most of their apps now. Which is understandable with there being so many Android devices being used, it could crash their servers. Anyways, this is the first major revision of Play books in quite a while It’s jumping from 2.9.21 to 3.0.15 and is bringing quite the changelog.

Some of the new features include the ability to search the text of original-pages books. As well as adding a “see all” shortcut from read now to My Library. There’s also some stability improvements which we see in just about every app update. There’s also the ability to search scanned pages. Since Play Books supports a variety of book formats like:So you are now able to search within books that only contain scanned pages, which was not possible before. Additionally you can see all in read all now. Also searching for books in google search is fixed as well. So we’ve got a few more bug fixes, which is nice to see. I’m expecting to see more features introduced for Play Books with KitKat in a few weeks. But then again, maybe not. It does seem likely though, since every announcement has about 10 or more Google app updates shortly after.

We’ve got the apk if you want it, which you can download from our mirror. How many of you are using Google Play Books? Is it something you use everyday? Let us know in the comments down below.
