Just last month, Google had pushed out an update to Google Play Music on the web which brought along genre-based radio stations. Which didn’t seem like a huge feature, but it actually is. Last night, the Google Play Music team began pushing out a new version of the Google Play Music app for Android which includes the I’m Feeling Lucky Radio feature. For those that aren’t familiar, on Google’s home page when you search for something, you can tap the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button and it’ll automatically take you to the first result in the search. Well, this aims to do the same thing.
Basically, the I’m Feeling Lucky radio has an auto-generated radio station based on your past listening preferences. Making it a great choice for when you can’t figure out what you want to listen too. Unfortunately, it seems to be based in just one genre. So if you listen to some hip-hop, pop and country, you’re only going to get music from hip-hop or pop or country. Although, I’m sure that’ll change in the future. It’s still a pretty fun feature and a great way to discover new music that you may have never heard of before. What’s so bad about that?
Here’s the full changelog from Google Play:
v5.2.1233L
I’m feeling lucky radio gives you music you love at the push of a button
Pin icons added to cards to make it easier to find things you’ve kept on device
The update is actually already in the Play Store, at least it was for me. So you probably don’t need the APK as it seems like this may not be a staged rollout. But hey, we still have the APK anyways because we love our loyal Android fans, I mean readers. Check out the update, and let us know what you think about the new I’m Feeling Lucky radio in the comments down below.
