Google is holding a Google+ event right now, detailing some new additions to Google+, including the much-requested SMS support within the Hangouts app. While the event has now finished, there wasn’t any Nexus 5 shenanigans just yet but, we weren’t really expecting as much. That hasn’t stopped Nexus 5 leaks from popping up however, as @evleaks is at it again and there’s a new leak that Sprint users will be very happy to hear as the Nexus 5 is now apparently, heading to Sprint. Infamous leaker, @evleaks simply tweeted “Coming to Sprint” along with the below image.
For those on Sprint looking to take advantage of the stock experience the Nexus devices offer, the Nexus 5 will be a welcome device, if it indeed does come to the network. After all, the Nexus 4 never made onto any CDMA carriers, leaving both Sprint and Verizon users out in the cold. In fact, Sprint users haven’t had a test of the Nexus life since the Galaxy Nexus launched on the network, 6 months behind everyone else. Nevertheless though, a new Nexus could also be a strong shot in the arm for Sprint’s current line-up.
There’s no word yet on whether or not a Sprint version would be available through them only, like the Galaxy Nexus was or if there’s going to be one model available on the Play Store to cover all the bases, much like the new Nexus 7 that supports Verizon LTE as well as T-Mobile et al. No matter what though, CDMA users might be happy to get a new Nexus at all, regardless. We’ve seen a lot of the Nexus 5 by now, including a pre-registration page from WIND mobile in Canada, all the way to stock in the UK at Carphone Warehouse.
With the Google+ event now over, and the Nexus 5 still at large, it’s looking like November 1st might be the date for the reveal, something @evleaks himself has alluded to before now. It doesn’t matter when the Nexus 5 launches, we’ll be here to cover all of the news on the new Nexus smartphone and the possible ASUS-made Nexus 10 that’s said to be coming, too. So, stay tuned – it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
