HTC One users on T-Mobile were lucky enough to get Android 4.3 pushed out a couple days ago. Unfortunately, the update did not go as smoothly as HTC would have liked. As it stands, some users are simply not able to accomplish the OTA update. Without intervening, HTC would have left several users out in the cold.
Seeing as HTC isn’t in the best shape right now, it is absolutely essential for the company to maintain as many satisfied users as possible. When it comes to Android, the biggest complaints are geared towards manufacturer and carrier upgrades. HTC was lucky enough to recognize that providing consistent updates to their hardware will help users who purchase their products stay with the company.
Luckily, HTC has just released a ROM Update Utility (RUU) that will update HTC One users on T-Mobile to Android 4.3. The file stands at a robust 1.12GB that must be downloaded and transferred manually. HTC give incredibly detailed instructions on its download page in the hopes that even users who are not technically savvy will be able to successfully update their devices.
It is important to stress that if a user is rooted, installing this file will bring your device back to stock. This means the device will look exactly as it should when it came out of the box. This can be a good thing if root users are looking for a simple way out, but it can also be rather inconvenient for those who want to hang on to their root status.
Have any of you had problems downloading HTC’s original update? If so, give this a try and let us know how it went!
