HTC Sense 5.5 Leaked Screenshots Reveal Tweaks and Custom Topics Support in BlinkFeed

HTC Sense 5.0 is considered by many to be the best Android skin, or overlay, on the market. We also knew that for the past few months that HTC has been working on their next rendition of their new and improved Sense 5.5, and while some of the features are in the current HTC One Android 4.3 build, they are disabled in the framework.

Thanks to mike1986, a well-known maker of HTC ROMs, we have some screenshots of what we can expect from the new HTC Sense 5.5 user interface (UI). According to the source there are many changes and bug fixes, making for “improved performance and overall UI smoothness.”

One of the most significant chances is that BlinkFeed can now easily be toggled on and off from the Home screen – in the previous version.  the BlinkFeed was always on and there was no way to turn it off:

Android Quick Settings: The user can now rearrange and select the content in the QS Panel – Include your favorite Options:

HTC Sense 5.5 also includes an improved Keyboard with more Emoticons to choose from:

The camera also gets a few improvements, most notably, an addition to the Sweep Panoramic mode called, Panoramic+, perhaps a Photosphere type option.  They added a Dual Capture, which is probably similar to Samsung’s Dual Shot Mode, that captures an image from both the Main camera and FFC at the same time.  These features help keep HTC inline with the other manufacturers.

You also get some information via a Storage Screen to show how your storage space is being used, as well as a recently used App Screen:

Continuing with HTC’s upgraded BlinkFeed, they have added some new BlinkFeed Categories to choose from, as well as allowing the user the capability to create custom topics, something many Sense 5 users have been wanting for a long time now..  The Clock area is also seeing some minor improvements to the alarm clock settings:

As you can see the HTC Sense 5.5 continues to refine Sense 5.0 and brings it more up-to-date with other manufacturer’s options, like customizing the Quick Selection area, and improved camera options and a better keyboard.  These features can only improve upon, what is considered by many, as the most popular UI.
