About a week ago or so, when we heard that Microsoft wanted HTC to dual-boot their Android devices like the One with Windows Phone 8, we all thought it was pretty crazy and desperate. But then I thought about it, and it actually sounded pretty good. Especially if you’re looking to try out Windows Phone 8, you’ll still have an Android device. It appears that HTC wasn’t the only one asked to Dual-boot Windows on their Android devices. Now a report has surfaced that there are other OEMs that were asked. Including Samsung and Huawei.
This report also claims that Samsung has a dual-boot Galaxy Tab 2014 Edition with Android and Windows RT installed. It’s also stated to be one of Samsung’s larger tablets, probably the 12-inch tablet we’ve seen in Bluetooth SIG and the FCC recently. It’s said to be about the size of an A4 sheet of paper. It’s also very thing, with very good metal imitation plastic chassis and “crazy good” retina class display. I’m thinking it’s probably going to be the same specs as the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, but perhaps without the S Pen and Note features and with a larger display. Seems likely, right?
All of this information is coming from Eldar Murtazin from Mobile Review. Who has been right with quite a few things already. Like the Galaxy S4 event earlier this year. He also stated that Microsoft will be merging Windows Phone and Windows RT in Windows 9. Which makes sense, because in the current state, it doesn’t make sense to have one OS, but then 3-4 different variations of that OS for your different devices. Windows Phone for your Phones, Windows RT for Tablets, Windows 8 for desktops and laptops and another variation fo the Xbox.
It’ll be interesting to see how a Galaxy Tablet dual-booting Android and Windows RT will work. I wonder how fluid it would be? Since one is heavily themed or skinned and the other isn’t. I’ll definitely be checking it out once it’s available, how about the rest of you?
