Could the Nexus 5 Include All of Our Favorite Features from the Moto X with Better Specs?

This morning, Reddit user aohus has put together a full breakdown of the components list for the Nexus 5. This really shows us just how much we know about a phone that’s not announced yet. Pretty crazy right. The user grabbed all of this information from the service manual that leaked, and a few other sources which are linked in the post. Here’s all of the components:

Lots of goodies here. Including the power management controller and the Motion Co-processor. So we could be looking at better battery life along with possibly Touchless Control, due to the Snapdragon 800? For those of you that don’t remember, the Moto X has Touchless Control which allows you to say “Okay Google Now” to wake up your phone and perform a ton of different tasks. The Snapdragon 800 has the always-listening feature on board. So we won’t need to use Motorola’s X8 Computing System to get Touchless Control and keep battery life relatively the same. What’s cool about the power control management is that it sounds like we might be able to have different profiles, which Motorola had in the older Razr’s. Like when you’re at home change brightness to 20% and turn on WiFi, etc. Similar to Tasker.

Going back to the Motion Co-processor, it seems to be using the Invensense MPU-6151, a six-axis motion co-processor designed to handle gyro and accelerometer with MEMS motion tracking. Why is this such a big deal? Well because it’s such a low-power component, when compared to others in its class. It’ll be very energy efficient which is always great to see. So we could be seeing some pretty good features in the Nexus 5 that may not necessarily be in AOSP.

Personally, I’d love to see Touchless Control and Active Display from the Moto X land on the Nexus 5. Those are two of my favorite features from the Moto X and the 2013 DROID lineup. Make it happen Google and LG.
