Ever since the announcement of the Xperia Z1 back at IFA last month. Many of us have tried to hold in our excitement because we know Sony doesn’t always bring their phones here in a timely manner. And normally when they do, they are GSM devices. So it’s either T-Mobile or AT&T, and not both, unfortunately.
However, this morning @Evleaks also posted a press shot of the Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile. Complete with the T-Mobile logo on the back. This means that T-Mobile has scored a second exclusive with Sony for 2013. Of course we still don’t know exactly when it will be released, but hopefully it will be released soon since the holidays are right around the corner, and I’m sure there are plenty of people that would love the 20.7MP camera on the back. Speaking of specs, here’s what the Xperia Z1 has inside:
- 5-inch 1920×1080 TFT Capacitive, Triluminos display
- 16GB of internal storage, microSD card supported
- 2GB of RAM
- Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked @ 2.2GHz
- IP58 certified – dust proof and water resistant over 1 meter and 30 minutes
- 20.7MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera
- Android 4.2
- 3000mAh battery
The Xperia Z1 is definitely a phone I’d love to get my hands on. Sony makes some great cameras, and having a 20.7MP camera on the back of a phone is insane. Especially when you look at the Galaxy S4 Zoom with it’s 16MP camera which is a huge bulge on the back.
I’m still hoping that Sony and T-Mobile won’t wait until 2014 to announce this phone. I’d definitely like to see it on their shelves a lot sooner. Say this month? I’d really like to check out that camera though, along with the QX10 and QX100 lenses that Sony announced at IFA.
If the Sony Xperia Z1 does head to T-Mobile, would you pick it up? Let us know in the comments below.
