Samsung Airs the First TV Commercial for its new Galaxy Round

It is no secret that Samsung has released a new device with a flexible or curved display, the Galaxy Round – but only in limited quantities and it is only available in Korea, for the miserly sum of $1,000; so it is only fitting that Samsung release a little advertising to promote the Galaxy Round’s virtues.  The Galaxy Round is largely based on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 device that recently went on sale the beginning of October.  It has the same specifications as the Note 3:

  • Display: 5.7-inch, 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED Screen
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad-Core clocked at 2.3GHz
  • Memory: 3GB RAM
  • Internal Storage: 32GB/64GB
  • Battery: 3200mAh
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

The two main differences are that the Galaxy Note 3 has an S-Pen cradled in its chassis and the Galaxy Round is curved from left-to-right, possibly making it easy to hold, but not sure what else it accomplishes – other than a test ground for curved screens and flexible batteries.  In the US we tend to look at a device based on functionality, whereas the Asians tend to look at the COOL factor or is it something different or unique from the norm.  The Samsung Galaxy Round and the newly announced LG G Flex, may never see the shores of the US, but simply be an attraction in their own country, and certainly not for the poor with a $1,000 price tag. It is certainly fun to watch these two smartphone giants and country rivals duke it out to see which one of their devices can “flex” the most!

To promote the Galaxy Round, Samsung has just released their first TV Commercial to showcase the device, and I have to say that whomever Samsung has hired to do their current advertising, is doing a tremendous job.  The Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear commercials are top-notch in cinematography, direction, tugging at the heart strings, and stirring the senses. For the Galaxy Round, because of its unique shape, they chose objects that have that “rounded” appeal and put them into a video that is simply mesmerizing.
