Samsung Announces Shape M7 Wireless Streaming Speakers

Samsung has announced a new wireless speaker, for your listening pleasure. The Shape M7 is their newest wireless accessory and can be used all by itself or it can be used to stream audio to your whole house with a Samsung Hub. If you connect the Shape M7 speaker to a Samsung Hub it allows you to use it in a multi-room configuration, but the M7 can pull your audio from lots of different sources even if you use it by itself.

The Shape M7 will work with audio that is stored locally on a computer or media center, but it also works with Pandora, Rhapsody, the Amazon Cloud Player, and TuneIn Radio. Whichever method you prefer, the M7 will work just fine. The speaker does require an internet connection, so you’ll need to connect it to your router or use it with a Samsung Hub. The Hub will be connected to your router, so that takes care of the data connection. Even though the Hub adds a little bit to the cost of the setup, it means that you can easily connect multiple speakers wirelessly throughout your home. Samsung is looking to invade your whole house with the Hub and M7 speaker system.

The Shape M7 uses dual-band Wi-Fi and something called Multi-Channel Mesh Network technology. This allows you to stream audio clearly, without worrying about interference from other devices that may be connected to your home network. The M7 speaker unit will be available in both white and black, and has a neat little kickstand so you can use it standing up or laying flat. There’s also an optional wall mount if you want to hang the speaker up somewhere.

Samsung describes the Shape M7 as being able to stream audio that is “articulated through speaker technology that delivers warm and natural sound color.” The M7 includes a Foam Core Woofer, CNT pulp cone mid-range speakers, and has silk dome tweeters. The company will be making the Shape M7 wireless speaker available beginning October 13th. It will retail for $399.99. The Samsung Hub can be added to the mix for an additional $49.99.

What do you think? Will you be wirelessly streaming audio throughout your house with the Samsung Hub and Shape M7 speakers?
