It’s never to early to start pushing out rumors of a new phone or tablet now is it? The Galaxy S5 isn’t due to be announced until next Spring, even though rumors are saying CES I highly doubt it. But we have been seeing rumors for the Galaxy S5 for about a month now. The latest rumor comes form a South Korean IT publication which reiterates that Samsung’s 64-bit Exynos processor is in the final stages of preparation before it enters the production line. This we already knew, but there’s some more information coming along with it this time. The name of this processor is going to be the 6-series. To differentiate from the Exynos 5 Octa which we currently have in many of their flagship devices in 2013. It would hint at the next line of Exynos processors as well as stand for 64-bit. Isn’t it nice how things work out sometimes.
There’s also another claim in that article. That is the Galaxy S5 will be packing 4GB of RAM. Man that’s a lot of RAM for a phone. Samsung just set the record for putting 3GB of RAM in the Galaxy Note 3, and last year they were the first to put 2GB of RAM in a smartphone with the Galaxy S3. The new Nexus 10 is also expected to have 3GB of RAM, so it wouldn’t be too hard to see all phones next year coming out with 3GB of RAM and then Samsung setting a new standard in 2014 with 4GB of RAM. Although I’d still rather Samsung, and everyone else, work on battery tech before 64-bit processors, octa-cores, and 4GB of RAM. I’m sure most of you will agree with me as well.
So 64-bit processor and 4GB of RAM, are we sure this isn’t for a low-end laptop? Are these rumors already tempting you to buy the Galaxy S5? Let us know in the comments below.
