Twitter has finally realized that there are more tablets than just the iPad. The iPad has had their own optimized app (which looks similar to this one) for a few years now. Twitter has finally created their own basically gave Samsung the exclusive on it. Back at the Samsung Unpacked event in September, a lot of us saw the app from those that were at the event and some even grabbed the APK and leaked out online. While it worked for some tablets, it didn’t for others. The tablet UI on the Twitter app looks pretty nice, although you can tell it’s using the stable build of Twitter for Android’s UI and not the beta. I’m using the Beta on the Galaxy Note 3 right now and it’s looking good.
The app looks pretty good, and on the 2560×1600 resolution display on the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, it looks even better. The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is very similar, spec wise, to the Nexus 10 that Samsung and Google partnered together to create last fall. If the display on the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is anything like the Nexus 10’s, we are going to be very happy with it.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 version of the app does come with a few exclusive features. There’s a multi-screen view that allows you to view Twitter and another app side by side. It’s great to see another app compatible with Multi Window! That’s one of my pet peeves about Multi Window, that most apps aren’t compatible yet. Another feature is the ability to use the S Pen to create and tweet colorful illustrations.
Twitter has said that other tablets will get the update by the end of the year. Which is kind of a bummer, but then it is October so that’s less than two months. So it’s not that bad. But I’m sure we’ll see some leaks of this APK once people start getting their hands on the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.
