The LG G Flex doesn’t just have a curved display. The display itself is flexible and is pretty difficult to break. The phone was just announced on October 27th. It has a 6-inch, 720p display and runs on a Snapdragon 800 SoC. It has 2 GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 3500 mAh battery. The biggest selling point is the curved display which is rounded on a horizontal axis, like a banana. The G Flex will launch in South Korea on November 12th and should be hitting France sometime in December. LG has confirmed that the G Flex will also be coming to international markets too, including the U.S.
Three different variants of the LG G Flex have been spotted on the User Agent Profile (UAPROF) database. The three new models popping up are the LG-D955, LG-D958, and LG-D959. There are already three confirmed models for the South Korean market, too. The LG-F340K is heading to KT, the LG-F340L is for LG U+, and the LG-340S will be landing on SK Telecom. Here are the new models of the LG G Flex for other markets, including those coming to the U.S.
- LG-D955 for Germany
- LG-D959 for T-Mobile USA
- LG-D958 for Hong Kong & Asian markets
- LG-LS995 for Sprint
- LG-D950 for AT&T
So we have 5 total variants of the LG G Flex. The South Korean company hasn’t confirmed any of these models or their availability. It’s nice to know that they are working on releases for the U.S. market. It’s also interesting to note that Verizon is again being left out of the discussion. They are also not going to be carrying Google’s recently released Nexus 5 smartphone. The LG G Flex appears to come with a free 16GB SD card out of the box, in addition to the internal storage capacity, and will launch with two kinds of cases: the Quick Window case and a standard flip-style “Vest Case.”
The G Flex is something of a concept device. Both Samsung and LG have recently released smartphones that have curved displays. Apparently LG thinks that they can sell the G Flex on a global scale.
