Rogers new CEO Starts in two weeks
Rogers has a new CEO, Guy Laurence. Who is a former Vodafone exec. For those that don’t know, Vodafone is one of the largest wireless carriers in the world. Right now little is known about what Laurence will bring to rogers, but the rumor is that he’s a very hands on type of guy. According to Globe “One of the things that Guy brings is depth of experience on the customer experience and customer experience road map. He has very much hands-on experience in having executed lading an organization to get a culture that really is customer first.” Just two weeks until Guy Laurence takes over. Wonder what he’ll do for Rogers.
Nexus 5 launches at WIND Mobile
This week, the newest piece of hardware coming out from Google, the Nexus 5 is launching at WIND Mobile. It’s available now at four different prices.

Mobilicity Working their Plan C
Mobilicity has been struggling as of late. There were even talks of Verizon moving into Canada and purchasing Mobilicity but that died down quickly. Mobilicity is having a hard time competing with the big three, Rogers, Bell and TELUS up there in Canada. And now they’ve moved onto plan C, which is to auction themselves off. They will be auctioning off their assets to the highest bidder, kind of what Blackberry is doing now.
Galaxy Gear Launches at Rogers, TELUS and Videotron
Alongside the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung announced the Galaxy Gear which is their first smartwatch. Earlier this week, three carriers in Canada launched the device. That includes Rogers, TELUS and Videotron. It’ll cost you $329.95, and is currently only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3, until the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 get the Android 4.3 update which brings along with it Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy support.
Videotron Announces $60/month Promo Plan
Videotron announced a pretty nice $60/month promo plan this week. It comes with unlimited voice and 6GB of data. Now speaking as someone in the US, that’s a pretty good deal. For $60 in the US, you’ll barely get 1GB of data, unless you join T-mobile, then you’ll get 2GB then throttling afterwards. While Sprint doesn’t offer any data plans that are $60 or lower.
