Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 Now Shipping in the UK
For those of you that actually like Amazon’s tablet offerings, you might be happy to hear that the 8.9-inch version of the Kindle Fire HDX is now available in the UK. With a Snapdragon 800 and a dizzying 2560 x 1600 resolution, this is definitely a great tablet to have if you’re into reading and watching movies. However, at £329 for 16GB and WiFi, it’s not exactly cheap and that comes with “special offers” otherwise known as pesky ads. No matter what though, the Kindle Fire HDX would make a pretty great Christmas present.
Carphone Warehouse’s Super-Cheap £49 Tablet No Longer Up For Sale Due to Unlicensed Google Apps
Remember when Carphone Warehouse made headlines for selling an Android tablet for just £49? Well, it seems that it was certainly too good to be true as not only were the specs fairly abysmal but, it seems that the Google Apps included were unlicensed. Making all of those Google Apps installed completely illicit. The supplier has clearly made a mistake as Google reached out to Carphone Warehouse to let them know that the product had not licensed the Google Mobile Services package, which is licensed separately, and as such it was not eligible for sale. Now, there’s a whole bunch of these tablets with nowhere to go and Carphone Warehouse is offering a different tablet as a replacement should you wish to return it – which you do.
GiffGaff Now Selling Phones
Many of you might have already heard about GiffGaff and in fact, a lot of you might already be using their value plans. However, now the carrier – that runs on O2 – is going to be selling devices themselves. This means that you’ll have to pay for a certain amount of the device and then choose how you want to pay the remainder off, and it doesn’t effect which plan you choose either, as these are kept separate. All-in-all, it’s a good move for them and with devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1 and HTC One, there’s no reason not to take them up on this new offering.
