BACtrack, a leader in both personal and professional grade breathalyzers, today, have released the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer app that has been optimized for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. BACtrack Mobile is already compatible with Apple’s iOS, but this is the first time that 70-percent of all the mobile phones’ will now have access to the BACtrack.
The BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer is the first personal breathalyzer the combines a professional grade fuel cell sensor technology, Bluetooth connectivity, along with app enabled features, such as estimating your Blue Alcohol Content (BAC), and then taking that information and provide further tracking, sharing and help in understanding your results. The XeroLine feature of the app even provides a way to estimate when your BAC will return to zero.
When you are out at the bar and drinking alcohol, you tend to lose your sense of being able to distinguish just how high your BAC has become and BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer takes this decision out of your hands and places it in a proven, non-judgmental device. This is a serious, decision-making tool that encourages safe driving and will help you make smarter decisions regarding drinking and driving. Keith Nothacker, BACtrack Founder and CEO said:
The NTSB recommendation to lower the legal driving limit leaves many consumers without a clear understanding of what that means in terms of alcohol consumption. By making BACtrack available to Android users, we are giving more people the ability to take responsibility to ensure safety and know if they are sober before getting behind the wheel after drinking.
Monitoring your BAC goes beyond just drinking and driving. Testing and sharing personal BAC results creates a dialogue around responsible drinking, which is long overdue.
When the app opens up you simply press on “Take a reading,” to begin testing your BAC.
Your smartphone then connects to your BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer and reminds you to to make sure it is powered on so it can connect or pair with your device.
Step-by-step, your app tells you exactly what to do…here it tells you to “Keep blowing!” until all bars are lite.
Here the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer is analyzing your results and even has a clock face to entertain you while it does its job.
Now it gives you your results and even keys you in to how you may be affected by your alcohol consumption so far.
This screen gives you a little more detail about where you are at and how long it would take you to get back to zero BAC, where you are located, and the date and time of your testing.
This screen will show you a graph of your BAC by the hour.
Research shows that 70-percent of American drinkers believe that owning a breathalyzer would help them gauge how much they drink and that over 80-percent view it as a serious decision making tool. Research also shows that 4 out of 5 American drinkers were willing to share their BAC levels with others, possibly as a means of support and now that the app is open to Android users, and that pool of potential users now grows exponentially.
The Android version is now available at BACtrack.com, online at Walgreens, Best Buy, Costco, Brookstone, and Amazon.com, while the free app is available at the Google Play Store…together they will work with each other to make drinking and driving safer for everybody. The Amazon listing doesn’t seem to have changed for the inclusion of Android devices but, you can read more on their website. Let us know in the comments or on Google+ if you would be interested in the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer – sounds like a terrific idea and a great Christmas present for that “special” someone.
