If there’s one custom ROM that’s been in the spotlight a lot lately, it’s CyanogenMod. Since becoming an official company, they’ve partnered with OPPO to have their ROM come pre-installed on OPPO’s N1 device, which is a huge device. They’ve also announced the CyanogenMod installer, which is now available.
Today, on their Google+ page, they teased a new piece of information for their fans. Basically that they have a new hardware partner. Now earlier this week, an OPPO Vice President had resigned from the company, this was after rumors were swirling that he was partnering with CM for a CyanogenMod brand. It’s all starting to take form. But it’s really interesting to see what’s going on over there, with OPPO. They are definitely a company I’d love to see come to the US and make a huge name for themselves.
According to the post, CyanogenMod posted on Google+, they have a “new” hardware partner. Which to me means it’s not OPPO since they were already their hardware partner. There have been rumors floating around that it could be a number of other OEMs out there including Huawei, Xiaomi, Sony or HTC. I’d personally love to see any one of those companies partner with CyanogenMod. Here’s their post:
Lot’s of rumors circling the net. We’re not quite ready to lift the veils, but we can confirm that we have a new hardware partner! Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks for info on this next adventure!
It looks like we’ll find out more about this new hardware partner in the coming weeks. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m pretty excited. I know a lot of people have been steering clear of CyanogenMod since they went corporate, but they are in uncharted waters right now and would love to see how everything plays out for them.
