Gmail Adds Quick Action Buttons For Dropbox Among Others

If you’re like me or plenty of other subscribers of, well… any email service that exists, you probably don’t want to sift through every single email just to make quick little interactions like an rsvp, or reply to the person who its from. Thankfully earlier this year, Google introduced quick action buttons, whose goal is to make interacting with some of your emails that much faster. This bodes well for anyone who needs or wants a faster way to interact with their emails.

As of today, Google is bringing us a few new quick action buttons to use that will make using Gmail even easier than before. New quick action buttons for Dropbox, Youtube, Seamless, and OpenTable will find their way into your inbox should you use these services. While most of these new quick action buttons might sound self explanatory to some, here’s a rundown of what they’ll do for you to simplify things a little more. The “view video” quick action button basically lets you view the videos from services like Youtube and Vimeo once it has finished uploading, without opening the email to click on the video link or play button.

As for dropbox and google docs, if you’re sharing folders through either of these services via Gmail, a new button to “view folder” has popped up to allow users top open the folder without having to sift through mail for a link. As someone who uses Dropbox and Google Drive daily, sharing docs and Dropbox files happens a lot and this is a huge improvement to the Gmail experience.

Other new quick action buttons include those that let you quickly respond with some feedback and/or review places that you’ve eaten. If you use either OpenTable or Seamless to set up reservations, this is a much easier way to quickly write up a review. OpenTable also lets you edit or change any reservations you may have made with them, right from the inbox. How easy is that? All of these new additions to the Gmail experience are certainly a welcome change, but it doesn’t stop there. Google says “we’re continuing to add even more buttons to make it easier for you to get things done in Gmail”. This means, or at least it sheds light on the strong possibility that we could see even more quick action buttons being added in the future. Hopefully the near future, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Do any of you guys out there use the quick action buttons very often? Hit us up in the comments and lets us know what you think about them.
