Google+ Gets updated to 4.2.3, Grab the APK Here

Earlier today, one of the Googlers on the Google+ project, +Virgil Dobjanschi, announced that there was a new version of Google+ rolling out. As always with Google’s apps, it’s in a staged rollout, oh how we hate staged rollouts. But never fret, we’ve got the APK for you to download and enjoy the newest version of Google+ right now. There’s quite a few changes in this update, some that I’ve been waiting for, for quite a while now. Here’s the changelog:

In addition to bug fixes and performance boosts, today’s new version of Google+ for Android includes a number of user-requested features:

– Opening “Locations” will automatically refresh your friends’ locations on the map
– Photos now supports Android Beam, so you can share photos via NFC
– Photos also supports Daydream, so you can view your pics in screensaver mode when charging or docking your device
– Individual photo details are now available in the drop-down menu

So as you can see there’s mostly updates to Locations and photos. So now the Photos app supports Android Beam, which is cool and all, but I wonder how many people use Android Beam? I’ve only used it once or twice, and it was a  just because I could, type of thing. But the big thing for me is being able to see photo info, aka EXIF data, on mobile. That’s something I’ve been waiting for, for quite a while, and glad to see that available now.

The location stuff is cool, but I don’t want everyone knowing exactly where I am. Some fo you might want that, but I don’t. And as always we’ve got some bug fixes, which we’ve come to expect that in just about any and every update on an app. You can download version 4.2.3 right now by hitting the link down below, it will replace your current Google+ install though, which is expected.
