When the LG G Flex was announced last month, we were all excite about the curved display device, that’s going up against Samsung’s Galaxy Round. But what was even more interesting about this device was the fact that the back has this self healing technology. Which a low of us felt was a gimmick. But one of the most respected tech YouTubers out there (personally I’m a huge fan of his) Marques Brownlee, better known as MKBHD, took keys, and a knife to the back of his brand new LG G Flex to check out the self healing technology on this device.
He used a knife to give the G Flex a pretty deep gash, which he found that it healed pretty well after a few hours. Now it didn’t get rid of the scratch completely, but it did get rid of a big chunk of it and did better than most other phones. It’s important to keep in mind that this technology is the first of its kind. I can’t say I’ve ever seen another phone with self healing technology. But it seems to work pretty well on the LG G Flex, and I’m excited to see how well it works as it has time to mature.
Currently the LG G Flex is only available in South Korea, LG’s homeland. But it is available unlocked, for a pretty hefty price here in the US. Around $1k. There are plans for it to make it to the US. In fact, we’ve already seen it pass through the FCC with compatibility for AT&T and T-Mobile networks. And it’s rumored to be hitting Sprint as well. It’s basically a 6-inch version of the LG G2, except for it being a 720p display instead of a 1080p display on the G2. But it does pack a Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM.
