In December, Huawei is expected to release their Glory 4 smartphone. Which may be known as the Honor 4 or Honour 4 in some markets. This device is meant to compete with Xiaomi’s very popular Red Rice smartphone. Meaning it’s going to be crazy cheap with pretty good specs. Just a little while ago, Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu teased the Glory 4, without any specs attached. Yu did say that it would be more powerful than the Red Rice and better value for money too. However, there was a report of the device running the MediaTek MT6592 processor, which is said to be their “true octa-core” processor.
There’s now a new leak out there that’s confirming quite a bit of these specs, or at least giving us a better idea of what to expect. The Glory 4 is going to come with a 720p HD display. We currently don’t know the size of the device though. It’ll also come with the MT6592 chip from MediaTek, so it will have a “true octa-core” processor. That processor will be clocked at 1.7GHz, along with a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front. There’s also 2GB of RAM inside and 16GB of internal storage. On top of all of that it’ll also be running Huawei’s Emotion UI 2.0 on top of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Kind of surprising that it won’t be running Android 4.4 – KitKat, since that’s a big point Sundar made about KitKat, is that it will run on lower end devices. Although with an octa-core processor, I wouldn’t exactly say this is a lower end device.
So far there’s no word about when the device will launch outside of China, or if it will launch outside of China. Typically, Huawei’s devices stay inside of China, unless you decide to import them. Which can get pretty expensive. The image at the top of this post is what the Glory 4 is supposed to look like. But that’s just a leak, so we’ll have to wait to learn more.
