Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 is a big phone, and a phone that size needs an equally large battery to power it. The Galaxy Note 3 already ships with a respectable 3200mAh battery, but if that just isn’t cutting it for you, Mugen might have an answer to your power problems. The company’s 6500mAh pack made specifically for the Galaxy Note 3 will be shipping out on December 6, and the Mugen store listing for the product claims that consumers can look forward to twice the life over the battery that ships standard with the Note 3.
Of course, that extra power comes at a price, and Galaxy Note 3 users can expect to shell out $98.50 for the additional juice Mugen’s battery provides. The 6500mAh battery isn’t the only thing you get for that price, though, as Mugen is also including a new rear cover for your phone. Since this 6500mAh battery is understandably larger than the one it’s replacing, the old rear cover for the Galaxy Note 3 will no longer provide sufficient space. Unfortunately, this you means you’ll have a somewhat bulkier phone after the swap, with the new battery increasing the handset’s normal 8.3mm thickness.
Still, we imagine many consumers will tolerate the increase in thickness if it means longer battery life. The Galaxy Note 3’s 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen can eat a lot of power, and when you take the phone’s quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 4G LTE capabilities into account, there’s a lot drawing on the battery. While the Galaxy Note 3’s standard 3200mAh battery is no slouch, it’s easy to see why some users would opt for extended battery life. Aside from the clear benefit of having to plug-in your phone less frequently, it’s also a good idea to have a back up ready to go. Batteries inevitably lose their ability to hold a charge over time, so having a second ready to swap in when longevity becomes an issue is something most smartphone users should at least consider.
