On Wednesday, I did a post showing off some shots taken by the Nexus 5 and Galaxy Note 3. I still feel the Nexus 5 is on par with the Note 3, maybe not better, but definitely close. Today, we’re taking a look at the Google Nexus 4‘s camera and the Nexus 5’s camera. Let’s see how much better the Nexus 5 camera really is. In all honesty, I didn’t think the Nexus 4’s camera was really all that bad. Yeah, it wasn’t the best, but I don’t think it was terrible.

The images above were all taken outdoors. Both cameras had the exact same settings (in fact, I didn’t change any of them). As you can see the Nexus 5’s pictures are much better. But maybe that’s just me. In the images down below, you’ll see some examples of pictures taken indoors or in low-light conditions. I really wish I had a HTC One to compare it to, since that thing takes amazing pictures in low-light.

So is the camera better than the Nexus 4? Well I kinda expected it to be, and it actually is. I’m pretty sure that KitKat as well as OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) played a big role in taking better pictures. But it’s still great to see pictures that are actually good looking enough for you not to need to bring a DSLR or point-and-shoot camera with you. Sure it’s not that 13MP sensor that most others on the market have, but the 8MP sensor, seems to be just fine, at least for now.
How many of you are satisfied with the Nexus 5 camera? Was it one of the things you were worried about? I know I was certainly worried about the camera, and that’s why I wasn’t going to buy one.
