Qualcomm Opens Up Pre-Orders for their Toq Smartwatch, $349 Price Tag includes Wireless Charging Dock

Just last week, we had heard from Qualcomm what the price of their smartwatch would be. It’s going for $350 and today they’ve opened up pre-orders for those that are interested. The pre-orders should be shipping in about 1-3 weeks, so you should have it in time for Christmas.

Back at IFA, well not at IFA but during IFA, we had found out about the Toq smartwatch. In fact, it was announced on the same day as Samsung’s Galaxy Gear. It was supposed to promise a better screen and better battery life than the Gear. Not to mention, much wider compatibility. It should work with just about every Android phone out there. Qualcomm also was not afraid to call out the Galaxy Gear by name.

The display on the Toq smartwatch is a 1.5-inch Mirasol display which is always on, it’s also said to be visible without any back lighting. It’ll also have full use of the AllJoyn Notification Framework, the Toq does sound like a great smartwatch for those that are interested in having a smartwatch. Although the price is still a bit high in my opinion.

However, you do get more than just the Toq smartwatch for $350. You also get the wireless charging dock to go along with it. It almost seems like Qualcomm is following Google’s way of Google Glass. By having the price so high that they only attract developers to work with the smartwatch at first and make the Toq an even more attractive smartwatch option. Although we’ll have to wait and see on that one. I have a strong feeling that we’re going to see a ton of smartwatches at CES come January. Or maybe that’s just me?

You can pre-order the Toq from the Qualcomm Toq Store now. If you decide to take the plunge and pre-order the Toq, be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
