The Consumer Electronics Association puts together CES each year in the first week of January in Las Vegas. This is where you’ll see companies like Samsung, Motorola, Sony, and many others showing off stuff. But lately, there haven’t been a lot of news as far as new hardware goes. It’s mostly new processors and accessories, as OEMs want to have their own event and get all the spotlight. Which is cool with us.
This year, the CEA has already announced the Innovation Awards list for the upcoming CES, which is our next big event. Samsung has been honored with receiving 24 CES 2014 Innovation Awards, which brings their total to 258 awards in 10 years. Not bad, if I say so myself. Samsung normally holds one of the biggest booths at CES (many of us call it “Samsung city”) which is understandable, since they do way more than just phones and tablets. They essentially make and manufacture everything. From refrigerators, to ovens, to laptops, to TVs and everything in between.
Samsung has listed a few of the award recipients. They haven’t listed them all because they probably want to save some mystery for their keynote at CES (if they hold one this year), but here are a few of the award recipients.
3GB LPDDR3 Mobile DRAM
Galaxy Gear
Curved OLED TV
T9000 Four-door refrigerator
Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Galaxy Note 8.0
Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
Galaxy NX
DV457 Front-Load Dryer
Nice to see more than just phones and tablets on the list. It’s even cool to see the RAM in the Galaxy Note 3 on the list, along with the Galaxy Gear and even that curved OLED TV. I can’t wait to see who else won an Innovation Award for Samsung, as I’m sure there are a few newbies that they didn’t list, because they haven’t announced them yet. So we’ll have to wait and see.
