Motorola today announced their latest smartphone, the Moto G and coming in at just $179 unlocked, you’re probably thinking just what sort of performance and specs the Moto G can have. Motorola have really managed to pack some impressive specs inside of the Moto G for that price point but, their software engineers have gone through with what they call “obsessive attention to detail” to make sure the software is up to speed, too. Making a device that is not only available for very little unlocked but, one that you want have to worry about delivery a sub-par user experience.
Let’s take a look at the specs shall we:
- 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD Display giving it 329 ppi
- 1.2 Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 CPU
- 1GB of RAM
- 8 or 16GB of Storage with 50 GB free with Google Drive
- 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, 720p 30fps capture, 4x digital zoom, burst mode, Auto HDR and more
- 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera
- WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS and FM Radio all included
- microUSB port with 3.5mm Headphone Jack
- Android 4.3 with guaranteed update to Android 4.4 coming in January 2014
- GSM Supported bands: GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps
- CDMA Support bands: CDMA/EVDO Rev A
- 2,070 mAh battery with 14-hour estimate from Motorola
- 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6mm
- 143g in weight
For $179 unlocked in the US, that’s a lot of phone for the money and coupled with Motorola’s attention to detail with the software – no doubt with help from Google – the Moto G should continue to show itself as a very capable low-end device. On stage, the Moto X was shown to outperform the Galaxy S4 in everyday tasks and this is the emphasis Motorola wanted to make, that the Moto G is a fine device for the everyday.
