We’ve talked about SwiftKey before. It is by far my favorite Android keyboard. The word prediction is top notch and SwiftKey Flow is a great way to type with one hand. The themes and other options make this an excellent keyboard replacement. This morning SwiftKey announced an update to version 4.3 which adds new “Layouts for Living.” The new layouts will let you resize the keyboard as well as undock it and move it around your screen.
SwiftKey 4.3 has been in beta and available for use for a few weeks now. If you have been using the beta, this update on the Play Store adds the new beta features to the official SwiftKey keyboard. There are three new keyboard layouts; the regular Full keyboard, a Thumb keyboard, and a smaller Compact keyboard. The thumb keyboard is essentially SwiftKey Tablet. The update also gets rid of the separate SwiftKey Tablet keyboard. There are no longer two SwiftKey options on the Play Store. When you purchase SwiftKey, you get the thumb keyboard for tablets too.
You’ll find 5 sizes for your keyboard now. You can make the keyboard very large if you want to be able to see it more easily or use the keyboard on a large screen device. You can also shrink it down if you want some extra screen real estate. There’s also the ability to undock the keyboard from the bottom of your device screen and move it anywhere you want. You can easily toggle any of the new options from the SwiftKey settings button.
The update brings SwiftKey up to version 4.3. It’s available on the Google Play Store right now as a free update if you’ve already purchased SwiftKey. For a limited time, the full version of SwiftKey is half price in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, Russia and New Zealand to celebrate the release. If you haven’t tried out SwiftKey, we highly recommend that you do. There are a lot of keyboard options out there and SwiftKey is one of the best.
