Since Twitter launched the beta version of their Android app a couple of months ago, we’ve seen a ton of changes in the beta version. It seemed, for a while, that every time you updated the app, there was an entirely new UI to play with. Not that, that is a bad thing. It’s just amazing how quickly they are updating the beta version. On Friday, the company began taking it one step further by announcing Alpha testing for their app.
According to TechCrunch, the alpha test group will see even earlier versions of Twitter’s app for Android. Although unlike the beta, users will be able to provide feedback to the developers through the app. Of course we should warn all of you that if you don’t like tinkering with things or being on the bleeding edge, then you may want to skip the alpha version. As they are likely to be full of bugs. But if you’re like me and want to be on the bleeding edge of technology, then you might want to give this alpha testing a shot. What’s important here, is that the alpha testers could influence the development of the app, through the feedback, which is something they really need. If you take a look at the current stable Twitter app versus the beta, there’s a huge difference, and I think the beta version looks way better.
If you are interested in joining Twitter’s alpha group, you can hit this link here to request to join the Google group which will enable you to have access to get the alpha builds. Of course, this is going on a first come, first served basis. So you’re going to want to make up your mind quickly. It’s interesting that Twitter is limiting the number of alpha testers.
It’s great to see so many apps, even the big name ones like Twitter and Facebook, beginning to use Google’s new beta feature in the developer console which they announced back at Google I/O in May. It really seems to be making a difference with app development too.
