On Wednesday, Verizon decided to okay a software update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. This one is actually a pretty short update, and an even shorter changelog. It basically does two things, it fixes and strengthens connectivity, and also improves the sound quality. So far, Verizon hasn’t provided a proper software version number, the build that is hitting devices right now seems to be VRUBMJ7.
From the image shown above from Verizon’s support website, you can see that the update is pretty small. I’d expect it to only be a couple of megabytes in size. This update does sound a lot like the one Sprint rolled out to their Galaxy Note 3 last month, since a lot of users were complaining of garbled audio during calls. Since launch, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has suffered from quite a few sounds related issues. Although most of them seem to be on CDMA devices like the Verizon and Sprint versions. We should see this update rolling out in a day or two. The rollout typically lasts about 2 weeks, since it’s a staged rollout so customers don’t kill their servers, which makes sense. Even though we are generally impatient and want our update right now.
To check to see if you’ve got the update, go ahead into settings, then tap on About Phone and System Update or Software Update. You’ll want to keep spamming that button in a couple of days. Hopefully Verizon doesn’t take too long in getting this one out there
How many of you are having issues besides the two addressed in this OTA? You might want to go and complain to Verizon and Samsung so they can get it fixed. It’s hard to fix something they don’t know is broken. Let us know in the comments down below.
