Not too long ago, Acer had announced their newest Chromebook. The Acer C720P. Which is essentially the same as the C720 which I reviewed last week, but it has a touchscreen. Now I don’t have much of a need for a touchscreen on a laptop…or in this case a Chromebook, but others might love it. Oh and it’s only $299. Making it the first “affordable” touchscreen Chromebook. Now that’s a big deal. It also doubles the storage, giving you 32GB of storage via a Solid State Drive.
Now, we are seeing reports from those that pre-ordered the Chromebook from Amazon, that they are being charged for their Pre-orders today. Although, the site does still list the C720P as pre-order, so maybe they are getting ready to ship within the next day or two. Hopefully it means they are shipping today, as I’m sure everyone’s excited to get their Acer C720P in hand.
I had a really great experience with the C720, and I’m sure the C720P is going to be the same way when people start getting their hands on it soon. With the 4GB of RAM and the Haswell processor inside, it was definitely a much better experience from my Samsung ARM Chromebook. I’d say it was almost in the middle of the Samsung Chromebook and the Chromebook Pixel. I hope Google does another Chromebook Pixel, hopefully at a bit lower of a price. But we’ll see soon.
How many of you are looking to pick up a Chromebook this holiday season? The Acer C720P Chromebook might be your best choice. Although there are plenty of others out there too. Like the HP Chromebook 14, the Acer C720 (2GB and 4GB of RAM Models), Samsung’s ARM Chromebook, Chromebook Pixel and more. Lenovo even has one for education with ASUS and Toshiba coming up with theirs next year.
