Amazon Offering Kindle Fire HDX With 90-Day Payment Plan

Amazon wants to sell Kindle Fire HDX tablets this holiday season. I mean they REALLY want to sell Kindle Fire HDX tablets right now. Following up on their 30-day free trial option, Amazon is now offering a nine-month, interest free financing option for customers that want a Kindle Fire HDX. The plan works like this: the Fire HDX starts at $229 for the smaller, 7-inch version. The 8.9-inch variant is $379. If you opt to finance your new tablet, you pay 25 percent of the purchase price up front. Then you pay one-quarter of the total price every three months. If you don’t make your payments, Amazon reserves the right to reregister your tablet. That means that you’ll be blocked from all of your Amazon content, including your Kindle books and all of your Amazon video media too. You don’t want that happening.

Amazon’s previous Kindle Fire HDX tablet promo was a 30-day free trial, sent out to select customers. The invitation gave these customers a choice of several Amazon hardware devices including the Kindle Fire HDX 7, HDX 8.9, and the Kindle Paperwhite. Amazon was shipping the device to the customer that was invited, and then giving them 30-days to make a decision about keeping it. If they didn’t want it, they sent it back. If they wanted to keep it, they didn’t have to do anything. Amazon automatically charged their credit after the trial period expired. Amazon has run other deals on the Kindle Fire tablets this holiday season, too, but this is the first time we’ve seen an interest free financing option from them.

The Kindle Fire HDX comes in 7-inch and 8.9-inch version. Both models come in Wi-Fi and 4G variants. The specs are almost identical for both versions of the tablets. They run on 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipsets with 2 GB of RAM. Both run Amazon’s Fire OS on top of Jelly Bean, and both come with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of internal storage. The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has an 8-megapixel camera, while the 7-inch model has a 1.3-megapixel camera.

These tablets are not outrageously priced, but if you prefer to finance them instead of paying them outright, this interest-free option is pretty nice. You can find our review of the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 here. And here’s the Amazon deals for the Kindle Fire HDX and HDX 8.9.
