On Tuesday, Samsung and AT&T began pushing out an update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This update brings Android 4.3 alongside support for the Galaxy Gear as well as KNOX Security and some new Touchwiz features. The update should be rolling out beginning today and should take about 3-4 weeks to hit everyone. So if you don’t get the update today, don’t fret to much. Hopefully this one doesn’t get pulled like the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S4 on AT&T was last month. We’ll keep an eye on it to see what happens. The new build is I317UCUBMK6.
This update does bring support for the Galaxy Gear. Which is primarily because Android 4.3 brings support for Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, or BLE. Which is what is needed for the Galaxy Gear, as it will take less battery from your Galaxy Note 2, as indicated by “Low Energy”. This update also brings along some of the Samsung KNOX security features that debuted on the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 this year. Additionally, you’re also getting the “Premium Suite” which means you’ll be getting a lot of the Galaxy Note 3-style features like the new multi-window Mode, Easy mode, and Pen Window, among many others.
The update has already begun to roll out, which you can try and grab it by going into Settings > About Phone > Software updates to grab the update. But remember, AT&T only allows you to check for an update once every 24 hours. So if you check now, you won’t be able to check for another 24 hours. Which does suck, and I have no idea why AT&T does it like that. So you may be better off waiting on it coming to your device. If you did receive the update, be sure to let us know in the comments below how it’s going for you.
