We gamers are a fickle type when it comes to quality. On mobile platforms you tend to fall into two camps: those who don’t care about mobile gaming at all and are content with just playing Angry Birds or Cut the Rope every once in a while, and those who like full-version nearly console-quality games on the go. For that second group today might just be your lucky day, as Activition’s rather excellent Call of Duty: Strike Team has received a big update today giving it support for quite a few more devices. Our resident mobile gamer, Justin Diaz, enjoyed the game quite a bit when he played it, but noted that it was only available on a select few devices. Thankfully Activision wanted to sell a few more copies of the game and now it’s playable on over half a dozen more devices, and it’s a pretty exciting selection of devices too. A game as complex and graphically intense as CoD Strike Team generally requires quite a bit of tweaking to make it look and feel good on a mobile device, and just releasing it for every Android phone out there is an easy way to get lots of 1 star reviews.
If you’ve got a Nexus 5 or a Nexus 10 you’ll now be able to play CoD Strike Team, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Note II. Activision also added support for the original Galaxy Note, but didn’t specify whether or not this was the international or US model of the phone. Given that there’s significant horsepower differences between both versions, we’re not exactly sure how it’ll run on the US version. Activision also added support for Sony Xperia S and Xperia Z models, but again didn’t specify exactly which models, so no telling if that includes the Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra models. Given the strangely random nature of the devices supported, there’s really no telling.
Activision is also doing a post-Christmas holiday sale from today, December 26th, all the way up to February 1st 2014, bringing the price down from a fairly expensive $6.99 all the way down to $2.99. That’ll help make up for those nasty in app purchases! If you’re looking to pick up a fantastic action game with a unique control scheme and twist, go ahead and grab this one today!
