Google appears to have missed an app last week when they were updating all the apps. Google Calendar appears to be getting a new update that’s rolling out beginning today. Staged rollouts, they are the best. Luckily, thanks to the folks over at Android Police, we’ve got an APK for everyone to download and enjoy before Google takes a week or so to push it to your devices.
There’s not a whole lot changed in this version of the Google Calendar. But it does make it easier to go ahead and reply to event invites sent through Gmail. So when you press or tap on Yes, Maybe or No in the email invite, you will then get a notification confirming that response. That’s literally all you have to do now. Prior to the 201308023 update, tou’d have jump into the calendar app with the event, when you tapped on Yes, Maybe or No. Now it’s all done without really opening the calendar app. You just simply deal with a toast notification. Making this a lot more user friendly.
You’d think that something in the Gmail app would need to be changed for this to work. But surprisingly, just updating the Google Calendar from v201308021 to v201308023 allows you to use this new feature. That’s all that’s new in this update. However we may have missed something. So if we did miss anything new in the Google Calendar update, be sure to let us know in the comments below.
For those interested in getting the APK right now, we’ve got the file down below for you to install. The APK is signed by Google and will be upgrading your existing Calendar app. For those interested in the file name it’s com.google.android.calendar-201308023.apk. And it’s weighing in at about 2.5MB in size. So not too bad.
