Wireless Charging is one of those features that most of us are like “meh” about. Since you still need to buy a charging pad to use the wireless charging feature. Wireless charging first made it’s way to Android on the HTC Droid DNA last year, and has also made it to the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013) and even a few Windows phones. I’ve already reviewed a couple of wireless chargers in the past year, which I really liked the TYLT Vu charger. But the RAVPower wireless charger is pretty great as well. It’s pretty small, which is great for travelling. In fact, it’s so small that using it to charge my Nexus 7 (2013) you couldn’t even see the charger.
This is a pretty simple to use wireless charger. You literally just have to plug it into the wall and then set your Qi-enabled device down on the pad and you’re good to go. There is a small LED light on the front which lets you know if the charger is done charging your device or not.
As expected, the charging speed of the wireless charger isn’t as fast as using a microUSB cable. It’s about 75% as fast as if you’d charged it the old-fashioned way. Which isn’t bad, especially if you’re using it to top off your device during the day. Which I normally keep one on my desk to charge my phone or tablet before I head out. For those interested, the input is DC 5V, 1.5A, and output is 5V, 1A max. And it’s smaller than most phones. Which is kind of surprising, actually.
