Google Play Music Get an Update – Adds Storage to SD and Sharing Capability

Google’s Play Music quietly released an update yesterday, version build 5.3.1316, that tweaks with the User Interface (UI) a bit with the slide-out menu, but most importantly added the ability to store your songs on your internal microSD Card, rather than on the device, and you can now share your music with the world. This update also fixes some bugs.

To access the Store-to-SD option, simply open up Play Music, access the settings, under the DOWNLOADING section, choose Storage Location, and check off the External “dot,” and there you have it. To share a song, tap on the Action Overflow Menu, while listening to a song, and there will be an option to Share on Google+.

Google’s answer to Apple’s iTunes, the Google All Access Music Player, requires a $9.99 a month fee to give you access to unlimited downloads, radio, etc. – sort of their “cloud in the sky.” Once downloaded, you can access the music across multiple devices. Google Play Music is the app or actual player on your device to which you access and organize all of your music. Google’s All Access is the subscription service where you can listen to unlimited ad-free music and design your own radio stations (like Pandora). You can create these “stations” by artist, album, or song genre – then skip songs, create playlists, etc. You can even bring over your iTunes library if you decide to jump from Apple to Android.

Accessing your music across multiple devices has never been easier – many are more comfortable working on their PC or laptop – go ahead and design your stations, playlists, etc. there, and the then open the app on your smartphone or tablet and anything done on the PC or laptop will be available instantly on your mobile device.

Let us know in the Comments or on Google+ if you use Google’s Play Music as your main access to music on your device or do you sport an entirely different player – do you subscribe to All Access for $9.99 a month? Google has really kept up with their Play Music app and keep refining it with each update. This update will be rolling out, so if you want the APK to side-load, it is below, courtesy of Droid-Life.
