LG G3 Specs Leak Out: Showing a QHD Display, 16MP Camera, and More

On this Christmas holiday, it looks like LG wanted out attention. As a few of the specs for the upcoming successor to the G2 has leaked out. We’re calling this the G3, as well that’s what we expect it to be. According to the folks over at ZDNet Korea, it looks like the LG G3 is going to be sporting a 5.5-inch IPS display that has the resolution of 2560×1440. Similar to what Samsung is rumored to be putting in their Galaxy S5 come March. Although Samsung’s display will be slightly smaller. If LG can cram this 5.5-inch display into a phone with almost no bezels, I think it would still be workable. I know it’ll be larger, but LG’s bezels are very small, which is a great thing, especially when you’re talking about larger displays.

Right now the LG G3 is expected to launch in the second half of 2014. I’d expect a August, or September announcement. Around the same time the G2 was announced this year. Some of the other specs floating around the rumor mill include a 16MP camera on the back. Which I’d suspect would have OIS included. As well as an octa-core processor. Some of you may remember that LG had signed an agreement with ARM to license the Cortex-A50 series processors, which are 64-bit capable. So we may see an octa-core 64-bit processor in the LG G3. Which wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

Right now all eyes have been turning towards the HTC One and Galaxy S4 successors. But it looks like LG wanted to make sure we didn’t forget about them. Which we definitely didn’t forget about LG. They’ve come a long way in 2013. And I’m excited to see what they do in 2014, how about the rest of you? Can it compete with the Galaxy S5 from Samsung? With it’s 5.25-inch 2560×1440 resolution display? We’ll see.
