LG's G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition Getting Android 4.4.2 Right Now!

Android 4.4.2 just started rolling out on Monday to the Nexus family of devices, including the Nexus 4, 5, 7 (2012), 7 (2013), and the Nexus 10. Then earlier this week, Google announced two new Google Play Edition devices, the Sony Z Ultra and the LG G Pad 8.3. Those both launched on Android 4.4, but it appears that right now the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is getting Android 4.4.2 as we speak. The update is about 52MB which is about the same size as what we saw for most of the Nexus devices. We don’t know exactly what’s new for the G Pad, but I’d expect something along the lines of just bug fixes like we saw for the Nexus 4, 7, and 10. While the Nexus 5 received a huge Camera update.

In addition to this, we have heard from a couple of people that the HTC One Google Play Edition is also beginning to get Android 4.4.2, although we don’t know this for sure. So take that with a grain of salt, but HTC did just post the kernel source for the Android 4.4.2 update, so it could be coming today. We might be seeing all the Google Play Edition devices getting Android 4.4.2 today, which would be great. Although the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition isn’t yet showing the update, but it should be rather soon. I mean it’s not a huge update, so shouldn’t take Samsung and Google that long to do this. We’ll be sure to check it out though.

We don’t yet have the OTA link, but if you have the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, and get the OTA try and grab that link and send it into us so we can share it with everyone that has purchased the LG G Pad 8.3 GPe. If you do get the update, be sure to let us know what you think about it and if you notice anything new in the update compared to Android 4.4, in the comments down below.
