There’s a new Google+ app update rolling out for Android today. We don’t have the APK yet, but if you get your hands on it be sure to send it in so we can share it with everyone. The update allows you to turn any photo into a virtual snowglobe. Now this is a bit different from the update last week that allows you to add Snow and twinkles to your winter photos. Google’s really putting out some great stuff and making Google+ the best place to post photos. I guess that’s their whole point nowadays.
“We’ve included a fun holiday gift in the new version of Google+ for Android launching today. Shake your device while viewing one of your photos, and watch the snow fall. Shake it again to save your new snowy photo and share it with family and friends.”
It’s pretty cool actually, you can see it in action in the video at the bottom of the post. You can look for the updated Google+ app to show up in your notification bar starting today. As always it’s a staged rollout. What is it with everyone doing a staged rollout? I’d rather see it available to everyone, or at least rolled out and available within a day or two, instead of a couple of weeks, kind of overkill right?
There’s more to today’s update as well. You can now search across more stuff from a single box. Also control who can buzz your phone without missing notifications from others, Explore content by category, and Spread love this holiday season. Now what they mean by that is that when you +1 posts in the stream, you’ll see something lovely.
Seems like today is update day for everyone. I think I’ve updated all the apps on my Moto X already, and I just set up the thing yesterday. Pretty crazy. Remember that if you get the update, see if you can pull the APK and send it in to us so we can post it for everyone else to use.
