Closing out the year, we always look forward to what the new year will bring in the area of smartphones and one of the most anticipated devices is the Samsung Galaxy S5. There is a lot of speculation about Samsung’s next flagship, the main staple in their arsenal of devices. Rumors, and that is all we really have at this time, point to a 5-inch Quad-HD display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, giving and astounding 538 PPI and an Iris Scanner rather than a fingerprint scanner, as iPhone and HTC One Max chose to include on their latest devices. The processor was thought to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, considering the fact that there is really nothing better out there in the time-frame that Samsung seems set in delivering its new flagship.
One of the Galaxy S5 variants, SM-G900F, showed up on AnTuTu’s database and they claim that they are sure it is the international model of the Galaxy S5. Now remember that many of these benchmark tests are done with prototypes that do not contain the final processors or displays – they may have wanted to test some internal parts, but did not have the new 2K display ready at the time of this test. However, from the numbers listed below, it appears that the device tested here has a resolution of the Full HD screen at 1920 x 1080 pixels rather than the Quad-HD screen at 2650 x 1440.
It does appear that there is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.5GHz running the show, with 3GB of RAM, a 16-MP (megapixel) camera, most likely an ISOCELL unit, and a 2MP front-facing camera (FFC). Android 4.4 KitKat is, of course, the Operating System. We were hoping that Samsung may be able to get the Snapdragon 805 processor, however, with the schedule that Samsung has set for its release, the Snapdragon 800 is still the top dog, and clocked at an insane 2.5GHz, it should still fly and not disappoint anybody. The actual device may still have the Quad-HD display, but these facts will fall into place the closer we get to the true release date.
