Samsung Rumored to Launch Four New Tablets in Q1 2014

As a device manufacturer, Samsung rules the roost with its Galaxy series of Android smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S4 – their flagship device of 2013 – has sold over 40 million units in the first six months of its launch. Also the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the latest iteration of their well-received phablet devices (5.5 inches to 6.9 inches screen size), has already sold 10 million units in the first two months of its launch. The only area of concern for Samsung has been the tablet segment, where its share has been dented by the superbly selling ASUS made Nexus 7 tablet.

Though Samsung has been the manufacturer for Google’s Nexus 10 tablet, the device did not meet sales expectations and could be termed as a moderate selling device. Samsung’s other tablets in the 7 inch segment have also not met sales expectations. Samsung is apparently increasing its arsenal and wanting a larger share of the tablet market pie. As rumor would have it, Samsung is planning to launch 4 new tablets in the first quarter (January to March) of next year.

It can safely be assumed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T111) would be among these four new devices. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite aims to be the cheapest Samsung tablet and is expected to be priced at around 100 Euros (approximately 138 USD). Though there is no clarity on which the other three tablets would be, going on the basis of speculation we might finally get to see the much rumored 12.2 inch Samsung Galaxy Note (SM-P900). The Korean manufacturer aims to start off a new segment of devices with the 12.2 inch Galaxy Note – a segment which would be potentially favored for office and business use, making away with laptops and desktop computers. Continuing on this trend of speculation, we may also get to see tablets with AMOLED displays as well as a 13.3 inch tablet which would support Android and Windows dual-boot.

Like with all rumors, this one too should be taken with a pinch of salt. But, if given a choice, which device would you like to see launched? The 12.2 inch Galaxy Note or the 13.3 inch dual-boot tablet? Shout it out in the comments below.
