The Sony Xperia Z1f was previously reported as being a Japan exclusive, but according to gforgames.com, the smaller sibling to the popular Sony Xperia Z1 is apparently going to be released in multiple markets, and could be renamed under the titles Z1 Mini or Z1S. Recent leaks in the last couple months have shown that the possibility of this little addition to the Xperia family is on its way and not just in Japan. Gforgames reports that the Chinese media is advertising that the device will be announced fairly soon in the Chinese market, which means it could possibly be released around the same time frame for other regions that Sony plans to launch it in as well. This is of course unconfirmed and just a speculation.Just how soon will this device show up? Sooner than you might think. The Sony Xperia Z1F is supposedly going to be announced during the Chinese New Year festival which is in early January. This is also around the time that CES is going to be happening so it actually kind of makes sense. Although it would make more sense that Sony show it off and announce it actually at CES. Whatever the case, we can apparently expect to see this phone for the first time officially in the next week or two, and most likely on or around January 3rd as depicted in this image below. As for pricing on the device, the Xperia Z1F (codename i3) is rumored to cost around $675 or 4099 yuan. That’s a lot for a “mini” phone, so hopefully there are some ridiculously impressive specs to make it worth it. It’s also very possible that if this device ever makes it over to the U.S. that it could cost a lot less. Some features of the device have been leaked as well, and show that the Z1F(S, Mini, i3) will be sporting a 4.3 inch IPS display that carries a 720×1080 resolution and will come equipped with a 2,300mAH battery inside to power whatever consumers will be doing with the device. The regular Z1 has a 5 inch TFT display, and carries a more crisp 1080×1920 resolution, and is equipped with a beefier 3,000mAH battery, which makes perfect sense considering its size and more powerful screen. January 3rd isn’t too far off. Perhaps we’ll learn more as that day approaches. What do you guys think of a mini version of the Xperia Z1? Is the screen too small?
