The Samsung Galaxy Camera was announced at IFA back in 2012, and it was a pretty interesting device. It was a pretty nice point-and-shoot camera with a 4.8-inch display. It was as if, Samsung took one of their better point-and-shoot cameras and mixed it with a Galaxy S3. I actually really liked the camera, but didn’t want to pay over $500 for the device. Now many of us had been wondering if Samsung would do a second generation Galaxy Camera. Since Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 Zoom and then the Galaxy NX Camera, we were thinking we wouldn’t see another one. However, today Evleaks posted a test shot from the Galaxy Camera 2 which is model EK-GC200 or those of you interested.
Yes, the photo is in typical Mr Blurrycam fashion. It’s not meant to show off how great of a camera it is, because if it was, it’s doing a pretty bad job. The point was to show that the Galaxy Camera 2 does exist. The Galaxy Camera is actually a really nice idea. I just hope that Samsung doesn’t do any exclusives, only bringing it to carriers without a WiFi version available. Last year, the Galaxy Camera was available on AT&T and Verizon’s LTE networks. Which it was pretty nice to be able to have all your photos auto-uploaded to your computer, without having to be near WiFi, however that will cost a fortune, since AT&T and Verizon have data caps.
So a Galaxy Camera 2 from Samsung. Could we see it announced at CES in a couple of weeks? I’m really hoping so. Not sure it would be my next camera, but it’s definitely in the running, depending on the sensor they put inside that one. How many of you are interested in the Galaxy Camera 2? Would you buy a WiFi version of it? Let us know in the comments below.
