Earlier in the week, we ran a story about upcoming color variants of the Nexus 5 which hardly looked realistic and was probably no more than an elaborate working together of PhotoShops. However, now there’s more evidence to suggest that yes, Google’s Nexus 5 is about to get a lot more colorful. A recent report that’s come from Vietnam produced the above picture of a Red Nexus 5 and goes on to say that Red and Yellow variants of the Nexus 5 are to go on sale in Vietnam some time in February or March. It’s worth noting however, that there is of course, a chance that this latest shot is another elaborate fake, after all it’s hardly the best-looking shot of a Nexus 5 out there, is it?
According to the report from Vietnam, the Red Nexus 5 that’s been caught on film is a production sample of what will be put on sale later on in the year. It certainly looks like a more realistic color for a Nexus device to come in and almost matches the same sort of hue that’s used in the official red bumper case available in the Play Store. As well as that, there’s been a hint from prominent Android figure, Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo fame saying on Twitter that the “Nexus 5 coloured version leaks are nowhere near representative of the colours of the actual products. Bad ‘shops. Surprises to come.”
Right now, there’s no firm evidence to suggest colored variants will be coming to market, in either red, yellow or anything else. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if this were something Google would do. After all, the Moto X is perhaps the most colorful phone out there and with Apple’s iPhone 5C and Samsung’s myriad of color options for the Galaxy Note 3, it’d make sense for the Nexus 5 to get a new wardrobe as well. Let us know in the comments below what you favorite color choice would be for the Nexus 5!
