BLU Announces the $250 Vivo 4.8 HD – With 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 720p Display

Many of you may not have heard of BLU, but they are a fairly new manufacturer based out of Miami that produces some low-end and mid-range Android devices for pretty great prices. I’m currently in the process of reviewing the BLU Life Pure, which is an excellent device. BLU is looking to bring the Vivo 4.8 HD to market next, after announcing about 5 new devices at CES earlier this month. BLU is going to offer the Vivo 4.8 HD in neon pink and neon yellow as well as the standard black and white.

Other specs for the BLU Vivo 4.8 HD includes a 4.8-inch Super HD AMOLED display, which has a resolution of 1280×720 (yes that’s 720p). So it should actually have a really nice display. I know it’s not Full HD, but 720p on a 4.8-inch device is still really good. As far as power goes, we’re looking at a quad-core 1.5GHz processor (likely a MediaTek processor) along with 1GB of RAM. There’s also 16GB of internal storage, there’s no word on a microSD card slot, but often times BLU does include one. As for the cameras, we’ve got a 8MP shooter around back with a 5MP shooter on the front. The device is also only about 6.9mm thick, so it’s a pretty thin device. As far as connectivity goes, it only supports up to HSPA+ 42mbps networks. No LTE, which isn’t really a surprise as none of their other devices have LTE support.

While this may not be a device to compete with the likes of the Galaxy S4 or the HTC One. The BLU Vivo 4.8 HD is still a pretty great device, when you factor in the fact that it is $250 off-contract and unlocked. Now sure there’s the Moto G at just $179, and it will probably get more support. But if you’re looking for a cheap device with a slightly larger display, this is the one for you to check out, I think.
