At CES earlier this month, ZTE announced a ton of new devices and wearables. Including their Iconic Phablet. Which is a bit of a weird name to call a phablet. The Iconic Phablet has made it into the US by way of Boost Mobile and is available starting today for $300. Remember that Boost Mobile is a prepaid service, so there’s no contract. Which means this is the full price for this device. Sounds like a pretty good deal right? Well lets take a look at the specs first.
The Boost Max, a.k.a. Iconic Phablet, is featuring a 5.7-inch 720p display, 8MP camera on the back with a 1MP shooter around front, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 3200mAh battery and Android 4.1 on board. What’s strange here is that at CES, ZTE showed off the Iconia Phablet running on Android 4.3, not Android 4.1. Making it pretty interesting as to why ZTE have decided to bump down the version of Android on this one. However, it did not lose their Multi-Window feature they showed off on the Iconic Phablet back at CES. Which does indeed work with just about every app available on the Play Store, which is a great thing since Samsung’s Multi-Window only works with a handful of apps and most of those are Samsung apps.
So it may not be the best phone on Boost Mobile, but to own a phablet for $300, this is probably the best your going to get right now. While we’d love to see this on Android 4.3 or even 4.4, it’s hard to argue since it is only $300 outright. Like we said earlier, it is available today, and Boost Mobile does have a $55 per month unlimited plan. Now before you get too excited, remember that Boost Mobile runs on Sprint’s network. Therefore if Sprint doesn’t have the best network in your area, you may not want to jump on this. So be sure to check out their coverage first.
How many of you are going to pick up the “Boost Max”, a.k.a. the ZTE Iconic Phablet from Boost Mobile?
